OK, talked to the Park service, and the group rate is a no-go. So, if you have a NM State Park annual pass, bring it. Otherwise, bring $5 to get into Sugarite Park (worth it!) I will try to get my driving seat hooked up to the digital projector for game time. PM me if you have vids you'd like to see on the big screen (will need to be HIGH res, or a format I can burn to DVD). Taking requests for movies, too. The Rendezvous (do a google search) might be fun.

I know I can get into colorado state parks for free with my DV plates, will that work there too? is it a national park or just a state park?

It's a NM state park (even though part of it is actually in CO). The site, http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/PRD/FeesPermits.htm , does not say anything about a single day use for DV, but you might call and ask. The answer is always no, unless you ask.

Groups are for the group shelter, which we do not want (actually, it's the road to it we don't want), and it's for non-profits only.

Sautrday 23 August, 12pm, Sugarite State Park, NM (east of Raton, NM)
OK, only 5 days until this event! Bring nice cameras with you. We have gotten lots of rain here lately, and everything is turning nice and green. Will be spectacular SRT pics in Sugarite park! There is plenty of fishing there too, so if you have a NM fishing license, bring your pole, and you can fish the whole south side of the lake (If you would like to get a NM license, PM me, and I will tell you where you can get one). If you have a CO fishing license, you can fish the north part of Lake Maloya, and also fly or lure fish on the adjoining Lake Dorothy.
We will meet along Lake Maloya, and there I will provide maps to go up to Vermejo Park, and afterwards to El Raton Theatre. We will try to arrange a photo op at the top of one of the hills at Vermejo Park, with a beautiful backdrop of the Sangre de Christo mountains, and I will take a photo of each participant's vehicle. We will see these pics on the big screen when we return. Once at the theatre, we will watch some videos, play some games, and order in some pizza.
Directions:
From the South:
Take I-25 North to Exit 452. Turn right, and stay on NM 72 for 4 miles. At this point, the road will fork, keep left (now on NM526), and go into Sugarite State Park. About 1 mile in will be the ranger station. Stop there and fill out a park Day Use Pass ($5). After that, continue up the very fun road for 5 more miles. At the top, you will be on top of the Lake Maloya Dam. Drive across, and follow the road along. We will park along the road about another 1/2 mile on.
From the North:
Take I-25 South to NM Exit 452. Turn left, and stay on NM 72 for 4 miles.
From the East (Oklahoma, Texas):
Take US64/87 from Clayton to Raton. At Raton, turn right onto I25 North for 1 mile. Take the first exit, Exit 452.
If you have any videos (car videos, car chases, etc), or video games you'd love to play on a 25' movie screen and full Dolby Digital sound, PM me! Hope to see all of you there!

It's all going to depend on people like you coming down! It won't be a huge meet, but it will be fun, with great driving roads!
